Meet the NYC GEEKS! Leanne Brunn (FemCon)
As Geeks! The Musical in NYC revs up for opening night, I’m going to turn over the blog to the NYC cast so we can all get to know them a little better. We start today with Leanne Brunn. Take it away, Leanne:
Hi! My name is Leanne and I play a FemCon aka a female member of the Geek ensemble. My favorite superhero is Batman! Superpowers are cool, but I like the idea of a superhero that can actually exist in the real world. I’ll admit that although I know a lot about comic book theory, all I know about superheroes is from film, so that’s how I really judge it. The Batman movies are always my favorite, with the exception of Batman and Robin, that made me want to set myself on fire. But the Nolan trilogy really solidified the dark reality that I enjoy about Batman. Also the Joker is the best villain EVER!
My favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Movie: Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. I don’t really think this need explanation.
What makes me a Geek: I get really excited about things I like. My top things to Geek out about are anything from Apple (with the exception of Maps), The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, and Musical Theatre. I am a huge theatre geek!
My favorite part of the Geeks experience up until now is definitely getting to know the cast and crew. Everyone is awesome and we all genuinely like each other! Everyone has varying degrees of Geekness. I love when we all fight about things like Game of Thrones and admonish non-fans. There’s a lot of laughter behind the scenes! It always makes rehearsal enjoyable.
How can I relate to my character? How am I different than my character?: My character and I are very similar. I am just as obsessed with my iphone as I appear to be in the show. We both play a lot of Temple Run. I’m not as mean in real life!
If I could sit down with the characters from one show on Broadway right now it would be?: The characters of Once, because then we could jam after, I’m also Irish so that would be fun.
My dream role to play onstage is definitely Kate/Lucy in Avenue Q, its why I began to study puppetry!
Bonus Question: Zombies or Vampires?
Definitely Zombies! Twilight has ruined Vampires for me. Apparently they went from Bloodsucking children of the night to brooding teenagers that sparkle. Zombies though?! I am so ready for a Zombie Apocalypse! I have seen enough Romero movies and Walking Dead Episodes to take them on! You can’t reason with Zombies! There is no pressure for them to be apart of society, they will just eat you! They don’t care if you are Kristen Stewart, they will just straight up eat you.
